What skills and experience we're looking for
At The Notley High School & Braintree Sixth Form, we are an ambitious inclusive 11-19 mixed comprehensive school that places the journey of the child at the centre of everything we do. We have a clear aim for our students and staff: “Enjoy, Enrich, Achieve, Aspire”. As a school our ambition is to be “An outstanding school in the heart of the community.” These messages underpin everything we do. We want to work with colleagues who put the students at the centre of everything we do, but also take the opportunities we can offer them to develop their careers and fulfil their own aspirations.
Notley High & Braintree Sixth Form is part of the Bridge Academy Trust: a collegiate and collaborative Trust, where, first and foremost, each school is a place of (high quality) learning, where young people ENJOY, ENRICH, ACHIEVE & ASPIRE. The core purpose is to provide high quality continuity of every child’s journey through education from 3 to 19, with a community and school-led school improvement approach and long-term sustainable strategy. Bridge Academy Trust is committed to its people strategy and prioritises staff’s development to ensure they too can enjoy, enrich, achieve and aspire.
About the role:
We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Catering Manager to join our school team and oversee catering across three popular canteens:
- Year 7 Canteen
- Year 8–11 Canteen
- Cafe 6 in the Sixth Form Centre
This is an exciting opportunity to run a vibrant, multi-site catering service, ensuring that pupils and staff enjoy healthy, nutritious, and high-quality meals every day.
Why this role is different:
- Work-life balance– enjoy regular school hours and holidays, unlike many catering roles.
- Leadership with support– you’ll lead the team with the help of an Assistant Catering Manager and the backing of Bridge Academy Trust.
- Creativity and freedom– design menus that are fresh, nutritious, and tailored to young people, with scope to introduce themed days, healthy eating campaigns, and sustainability projects.
- Real impact– be part of our school community and see the difference your work makes to pupils’ energy, wellbeing, and success.
- Professional development– access training and opportunities across the Trust to grow your skills and career.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Managing and motivating the catering team across three canteens.
- Maintaining excellent standards of food hygiene, safety, and compliance.
- Controlling budgets and resources effectively.
- Planning and delivering menus that pupils and staff love, supporting health and wellbeing.
This is a rewarding role for a passionate and positive leader who enjoys variety, values teamwork, and wants the chance to shape a catering service that really matters.
