Chef De Partie – Aurora Foxes
Location: Minehead, Somerset
Salary: £26,691.43 - £29,885.93 (FTE £28,849.60- £32,302.40) Depending on experience and qualifications
Hourly Rate: £13.87 - £15.53
Hours: 40 hours per week
Contract: Permanent, Term time plus additional days and training (42 weeks per year)

Your Role:
As our Chef de Partie, you’ll be at the heart of a vibrant kitchen team, working closely with the Head Chef to deliver delicious, high-quality food that meets our exacting standards. You’ll take the lead on food prep and service, bring fresh ideas to menu development, and help streamline ordering to keep things efficient and reduce waste.
But your impact goes beyond the plate, you’ll also play a key role in mentoring aspiring chefs, sharing your skills and passion in collaboration with our chef tutors. During busy service times, you’ll be a steady hand, ensuring everything runs smoothly with well-timed shifts that complement the Head Chef’s schedule. And of course, you’ll champion best practices in food hygiene, allergen safety, and health and safety compliance.

Key duties:
Supervise the day-to-day running of kitchen sections, ensuring food quality, consistency, and presentation.
Work alongside the Head Chef on menu development and implementation.
Manage food orders, stock control, and waste reduction measures.
Deliver hands-on guidance and mentoring to students during kitchen service.
Support chef tutors in developing and delivering bespoke training sessions.
Provide constructive feedback to students in line with curriculum needs and Gatsby benchmarks.
Maintain accurate records of kitchen operations, stock management, and HACCP compliance.
Support ordering systems to ensure cost efficiency and sustainability.
Attend planning meetings, training, and reviews relevant to kitchen operations and student progress.
Skills and Qualifications
Successful candidate qualities:
NVQ Level 2 in Professional Cookery (or equivalent). (Desirable, depending on experience)
Proven experience in a professional kitchen environment.
Ability to mentor and train new staff or learners.
Knowledge of food hygiene, health and safety, and allergen procedures.
