Shape the financial future of Leodis Academies Trust

Leodis Academies Trust is seeking an experienced, ambitious and strategically focused Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our senior leadership team.

This is a key leadership appointment with responsibility for the strategic stewardship of the Trust’s finances, ensuring strong financial governance, sustainability, probity and compliance. Working closely with the CEO Principal, COO, Trustees and senior leaders, you will help ensure that our financial strategy and resources support the Trust’s ambitions and deliver the best possible outcomes for our schools and pupils.

As CFO, you will lead the Trust’s finance function and central finance team, providing high-quality financial advice, challenge and assurance across the organisation. You will play an active role in Trust-wide strategy and attend Trustee meetings to report on financial matters.

The role

You will lead the Trust’s financial strategy, ensuring long-term sustainability, strong financial governance and regulatory compliance. Providing expert advice and assurance to Trustees and senior leaders, you will oversee financial operations, planning, budgeting, risk, audit, treasury, systems and value for money, while leading and developing a high-performing central finance team and building effective relationships with external partners.

You will also work closely with Principals, School Business Managers and Office Managers, providing professional challenge and support around budgets and financial decision-making.

About you

We are looking for a fully qualified accountant with current membership of a relevant professional body, such as CIPFA, ICAEW, ACCA or CIMA, with significant post-qualification experience in a senior financial leadership role.

Whilst you may not have held the post of CFO previously, you will bring substantial experience of leading financial strategy, managing significant financial resources, financial planning and modelling, financial risk and assurance, and leading and developing a finance team. Experience within education, particularly within a Multi-Academy Trust, and knowledge of academy funding arrangements would be an advantage, but not essential.

Just as importantly, you will be a confident and credible leader who can make complex financial information accessible to different audiences. You will combine strong business acumen with excellent communication, leadership and influencing skills and have the confidence to provide both support and constructive challenge.

You will demonstrate high standards of integrity and professional conduct, together with the resilience, adaptability, accuracy and attention to detail required for a senior Trust leadership role.

Why Leodis?

Leodis Academies Trust comprises Blackgates Primary Academy, East Ardsley Primary Academy, Hill Top Primary Academy, Westerton Primary Academy and Woodkirk Academy.

As a Senior Executive Leader, you will work closely with the CEO Principal, COO, Trustees and academy leaders in a structure that gives the CFO a clear strategic financial leadership role, while benefiting from established operational leadership across the Trust.

If you are a forward-thinking finance leader who can balance strategic ambition with sound financial stewardship, constructive challenge with collaboration, and strong governance with continuous improvement, we would be delighted to hear from you.

About Leodis Academies Trust

Type
Multi-academy trust

Leodis Academies Trust was established in April 2016 to formalise the collaborative working of four high performing schools within close proximity of one another. In September 2018, Blackgates Primary Academy joined the Trust, cementing our place at the heart of the Tingley and Ardsley Community. Leodis offers young people the opportunity to experience consistency and security in their education, from 2 years old to 18 years old; from the start of nursery, to the end of Sixth Form and into adulthood.

Leodis Academies Trust and our individual Academies are committed to ‘Forging Young Futures’. To do this, each Academy has its own ethos and identity, and has the freedom to develop individually as well as working collaboratively to secure high quality outcomes for all its young people. By providing an extensive curriculum, both within and beyond the classroom, we cater for the wide range of talent and ability that our students have to offer. We work tirelessly to improve the life chances of all our young people and support them to make a positive contribution to their community.

Whilst Leodis consists of schools closely geographically located, the Trust works collaboratively with a wide range of partner organisations both locally in Morley and South Leeds, as well as further afield with our Initial Teacher Training partnerships, Universities and employers.
