What skills and experience we're looking for

This vacancy is a rolling vacancy and applications will be reviewed as they are received. Interviews and appointments may take place prior to the closing date shown.

About the Role

We are looking to appoint a new member of staff to teach within the following specialism(s) Food and Nutrition / Child Development / Health and Social Care. Due to the versatility of the team, applicants with one or more subject specialisms seeking full or part time work are welcome to apply.

ECT’s and more experienced teachers are equally welcome to apply.

You will be incredibly well supported in this role by other colleagues, a compassionate and skilful Senior Leadership Team, high quality CPD, supportive parents and robust, clear and simple systems for managing your classroom.

About the Department

Creativity and individually in planning and delivering is embraced and celebrated but there is also a well-planned framework from which to work with, and a full bank of resources for each subject. Our team is mostly made of part time staff but each has taught for over ten years in a variety of different schools, taking on pastoral and curriculum positions and holding different specialisms which leads to a supportive and collaborative atmosphere. The wealth of experience within the department is impressive, and as a result KS4 & KS5 results are strong. The food and nutrition results at KS4 are a particular strength of the school. Students speak very highly of our subjects, their lessons and their teachers.

The department is central to the school and hosts two fully fitted out kitchens supported by a full-time technician. In Year 8 & 9 students study Food once a week for the whole school year. Food is a popular choice at KS4 and usually three classes running, with five lessons per fortnight and hosting a maximum 16 students per class. Child Development and Health and Social care also have two good sized KS4 classes running per year group. We also run a Sixth Form group of Health and Social Care, which has an excellent track record of results and has facilitated many students to continue their studies in a related area in Higher Education.

About the School

We serve the whole community of Droitwich and its surrounding villages making our intake socio-economically diverse, which our entire staff play up to and thrive upon. We take just as much pride in our Oxbridge and Russell Group acceptances in Sixth Form as we do in enabling students who find the social side of school difficult and/or find academic work, challenging to secure meaningful, high quality destinations post 16.

Our staff are talented and incredibly supportive of one another. We have a great blend of recently qualified and then more experienced colleagues across all parts of the school. All of our ECT’s from the last 3 years are still with us, thriving in their roles , some of which now include TLR. We have Co-Hedteachers who are determined to treasure the strengths of the school as well as being keen and ready to address the areas where want to do even better. Our leadership team are particularly excited about out plans to make our staff CPD something that other schools are envious of and can learn from.

Our students enjoy our House system which gives them an authentic sense of belonging and identity, as well as providing them with opportunity for competitiveness, recognition, leadership and personal growth. Students’ personal development in particular the willing ness to be eager to learn and to be respectful and kin is something we place great value in; our investment in our tutor time, pastoral and PSHE programme reflects that.
