Olney Middle School

Class Teacher

Salary: MPS/UPS

Start Date: 1st January 2027

At Olney Middle School, we believe schools should be places where children thrive, staff feel valued and learning changes lives. As part of the Inspiring Futures through Learning (IFtL) family, we share one purpose: inspiring all of our futures through learning together. We are stronger as one team, ambitious for every child and committed to excellence in everything we do.

Following our exceptional Ofsted inspection in April 2025, this is an exciting time to join our thriving and ambitious school community.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, reflective and inspiring Upper Key Stage 2 class teacher to join our warm, supportive and forward-thinking team. Whether you are an experienced teacher or an Early Career Teacher beginning your journey, we would love to hear from you. Experience of teaching Year 6 is desirable, but not essential.

For the right candidate, there will also be opportunities to take on leadership responsibilities, helping to shape the school’s future while developing your own career. We welcome applications from teachers with leadership experience, as well as those ready to take their first step into leadership.

At Olney Middle School, relationships matter. We want every child to feel known, supported and challenged to achieve beyond what they thought possible. Our mission is simple: to provide every pupil with the strong foundations they need to flourish — academically, socially and personally. We believe barriers should never limit opportunity, and every child deserves learning experiences that inspire curiosity, confidence and success.

As an Upper Key Stage 2 teacher, you will help pupils build confidence, deepen their understanding and develop the independence they need for the next stage of their education.

We are equally ambitious for our staff. You will join a team that values your ideas, celebrates your contribution and supports your professional growth, with opportunities to learn alongside colleagues across the IFtL family.

As part of IFtL’s commitment to innovative and engaging learning, every child has access to a one-to-one digital device. Technology is used purposefully to enrich learning, encourage creativity and prepare pupils for the future. All staff are provided with both an iPad and a laptop, giving them the tools to teach, collaborate and innovate effectively.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Puts children at the heart of everything they do.

  • Has high expectations and believes every child can succeed.

  • Creates engaging, purposeful learning experiences that inspire and challenge Upper Key Stage 2 pupils.

  • Builds positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.

  • Is reflective, motivated and keen to keep developing professionally.

  • Contributes positively to the wider life of our school community.

  • Ideally brings experience of teaching Year 6.

In this role, you will:

  • Maximise the achievement and wellbeing of every child in your care.

  • Ensure children feel safe, supported and ready to learn.

  • Support pupils to become confident, independent learners, ready for the next stage of their education.

  • Play an active role in the continued growth and development of the school.

  • Champion the values, vision and inclusive ethos of Olney Middle School and IFtL.

  • Work collaboratively as part of a supportive and dedicated team.

This is an opportunity to join a school where colleagues support one another, children are eager to learn and your contribution can make a lasting difference. If you are passionate about teaching and excited by the chance to grow with us, we would love to meet you.

Come and see us in action. Visits and tours are warmly encouraged — meet our team, spend time in our school and discover what makes Olney Middle School such a special place to learn, work and grow.
