About the role

Reporting to the Head of School, the successful applicant will take responsibility for the education and welfare of a designated group of children, leading and managing additional adults within the classroom. In this busy, sometimes challenging, but rewarding role, you will work closely with colleagues to plan and deliver appropriate schemes of work closely matching the learning experiences offered with the individual needs of the child. The role includes maintaining assessment records and reporting on pupils’ progress and attainment in accordance with school policy. We have other professionals on site; speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and physiotherapists, supporting teaching and learning with whom you will liaise and work with co-operatively.

About you

In order to carry out this role you will enjoy working with students who have special educational needs, have an appreciation of the positive attitudes required to encourage independence in our students together with high expectations and respect towards students, common sense, warmth and a sense of humour. You will also be enthusiastic and caring, trustworthy and reliable, resilient, healthy, and committed to working as part of a team. Flexibility and a commitment to training is expected. We welcome applications from both primary and secondary sector and applications from Early Career Teachers wishing to work in special education are also welcome. Training will be provided for those wishing to specialise in SEN teaching.

Booker Park School is a special school meeting the needs of primary age pupils with a range of complex needs.
