Class teacher job summary

The headteacher and senior leadership team are looking to appoint a full-time KS2 class teacher from September 2026. The year group is negotiable, depending on the successful candidate's experiences. Ightham Primary School is a fantastic school to start your teaching career, or to further develop it and move into middle leadership roles. We welcome applications from ECTs, as well as from experienced teachers. For ECTS, we offer strong support - an experienced mentor whom you will meet weekly during dedicated release time; an excellent training programme using materials from the ECF; regular observations of experienced colleagues, including visits to other schools. For experienced teachers, we offer subject specific training, access to NPQs and professional coaching to support wellbeing and workload. Visits to the school can be arranged via the school office on 01732 882405. For applicants who wish to apply without a tour, for ease and speed, we may be able to offer tours on interview days and after the closing date.

Please note that, although this is a role listed to start in the new academic year, our INSET days are on 27th and 28th August and the successful candidate will be required to attend.

Ightham Primary School is a happy and friendly village primary school with a real family atmosphere. We are a one form entry primary school, with seven classrooms, an ICT Suite, library, hall with fixed apparatus, and designated gardening area. We are fortunate to be situated within the second largest woodland primary school setting in Kent and have three playgrounds. Further vetting checks, in line with the requirements of Keeping Children Safe in Education 2025 will be completed following a provisional offer of appointment. Where applicable, if an applicant with a provisional offer of employment has lived and/or worked outside the UK, they will be required to obtain a Certificate of Good Conduct or other overseas police check. Candidates will be required to arrange this themselves if they do not already have the necessary certificate.
