What skills and experience we're looking for

Truro and Penwith Academy Trust, together with Pensans School, are seeking to appoint a dynamic and committed Class Teacher to cover leadership time in both our ARB (specialist provision – Communication & Interaction) and mainstream Y5/Y6 Class.

This is a diverse role and proven experience of teaching pupils with complex SEN needs and also preparing pupils for end of key stage assessments is integral to this role.

As this role is to cover leadership time, planning of the curriculum will be provided by the class teachers.

Working closely with the ARB Teachers, SENCO and other senior colleagues, you’ll use your classroom skills to manage provision in two classes, deliver the curriculum provided and ensure the best possible learning and personal outcomes for young people with SEN needs in a specialist provision and also our Y5/Y6 mainstream pupils.

About You:

You will be an experienced SEN teacher with a passion for supporting pupils with special educational needs to access their full potential in this specialist provision within a mainstream school.

You will have had experience of teaching Y5/Y6 pupils in mainstream provision and preparing for end of key stage assessments.

You will have excellent behaviour management skills,

You will have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work with a wide range of colleagues – managing a team of teaching assistants and delivering high quality lessons planned by the class teachers.

You will be prepared to take leadership in a subject area.

You will use a range of assessment formats including Evidence for Learning, Insight and the National Curriculum to track pupils’ progress.
