We are seeking an enthusiastic, organised Class Teacher to join our team, with additional responsibilities for leading Special Educational Needs provision across the school. As our SENCO, you will play a vital role in identifying and addressing the diverse needs of our learners, working collaboratively with staff to develop and implement effective support strategies. You will be responsible for coordinating the provision of SEND across the school, overseeing the implementation and review of EHCPs and support plans, and maintaining strong, supportive relationships with parents and carers. Porchester has strong connections with SEND external agencies and as part of the role you will liaise with a range of external agencies to ensure that pupils receive timely and appropriate support. Your leadership and guidance will be key in building staff confidence and capacity in inclusive practice, helping to foster a positive and nurturing learning environment for all.
About the Role:
The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) while also contributing to the broader educational experience as a class teacher. This role requires balancing the responsibilities of leading SEND provision and leading a class effectively to ensure high-quality education and achievement for all children.
Key Responsibilities:
SEND Coordination:
- Develop and oversee the implementation of the school's SEND strategy and policy
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date SEND records, including the SEND register, provision maps, and pupil profiles.
- Coordinate and monitor the progress and outcomes of students with SEND
- Liaise with parents, teachers, and external agencies to provide the best support for students
- Deliver training to staff on SEND issues and strategies
Class Teacher Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality lessons that cater to the diverse needs of all children in the class
- Create a stimulating and supportive learning environment that fosters children's curiosity and enthusiasm for learning
- Assess and track progress, providing feedback to support their ongoing development
- Foster a positive classroom culture that promotes respect, inclusion, and positive behaviour management
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the curriculum and share best practices for teaching and learning
- Fulfil the professional responsibilities of a teacher as outlined in the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document and meet the expectations in the Teachers’ Standards.

- A qualified teacher with QTS and ideally the National Award for SEN Coordination or NPQ for SEND (or a willingness to work towards it)
