Class Teacher - Autism job summary

Class Teacher: Key Stage 2 Autism Class Teacher

Location: Hob Moor Oaks Academy

Salary: MPS/UPS + SEN Allowance

Contract: Full-Time, Permanent

Are you ready to join a learning community where every child’s uniqueness is celebrated?

At Hob Moor Oaks Academy, part of the Ebor Academy Trust, we are more than just a school. We are a place where children are empowered to be the best they can be.

We are looking for an exceptional KS2 Autism Teacher to join our ‘Forest Phase’ team—someone who can represent our core values and help our pupils navigate their personal learning journeys with confidence.

About you…

Teaching at Hob Moor Oaks requires a versatile toolkit of skills and expertise

. You should have—or be eager to develop—expertise in:

High Expectations: A firm belief that our children deserve the highest quality of education and the most ambitious outcomes.

Team Leadership: The ability to lead a dedicated team of Teaching Assistants to improve educational outcomes for all.

A Life Beyond the Classroom: We value well-rounded individuals. Whether you are a marathon runner, a weekend baker, a dedicated gamer, or a keen gardener—your outside interests bring their own personality, energy and perspective to our staff room.

Resilience: The ability to stay calm and grounded during challenging moments.

Humour: A genuine love for the joy and unpredictability of working with autistic children.

Organisation: An understanding of the importance of providing predictable, well-organised and structured learning routines to ensure our pupils feel psychologically safe in their learning environment.

Sensory Awareness: A developing knowledge of sensory processing differences and how to integrate regulation into the curriculum.

Our curriculum is bespoke, experiential, and designed around the developmental stages of our pupils. In this role, you will be the architect of a classroom environment that brings our six core values to life:

I am ME: You will celebrate the uniqueness of every child, ensuring their EHCP provision and short-term outcomes are met through creative, individualised planning.

I am SAFE: You will lead a classroom rooted in our school values, using high expectations for behaviour, robust Positive Behaviour Plans (PBS) and implement individual sensory diets.

I am CURIOUS: You will follow our school curriculum to design learning opportunities that spark engagement and an inquisitive spirit.

I am NURTURED: You will foster a team culture where staff and pupils alike feel respected, valued, and advocated for.

I BELONG: You will ensure your classroom is an inclusive hub where every child contributes positively to our school community.

I am PREPARED: You will use visual support strategies (e.g. Makaton signs, objects of reference (OOR), symbol systems, timetables) and highly structured routines to help children organise their day and prepare them for the future.

As our children move through Key Stage 2, the ‘bridge’ to their next phase of life is vital. We are looking for a teacher who is passionate about collaborating with specialist secondary schools. You will lead strong transitions, ensuring that the skills and independence built at Hob Moor Oaks are carried forward into KS3 and beyond.

Why Join Hob Moor Oaks?

A highly supportive and collaborative leadership team.

A commitment to your professional development and well-being.

A vibrant, purpose-built environment designed for our pupils' specific needs.

School visits are available on Tuesday 24th March and Wednesday 25th March at 4pm. Please contact the school office on 01904 806655 or admin.hmo@ebor.academy to book.

Closing Date: Sunday 12th April 2026
