We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Class Teacher to join our vibrant and supportive team at Sidegate Primary School. This position is available at 50%–100% FTE, offering flexibility across the working week (Monday to Friday).

About the Role:

We are looking for teachers who are outstanding practitioners or have the potential to be. We need staff who are inspiring and motivating for pupils, able to think about learning and deliver it in an interesting and engaging way. We have a strong support package for teachers, including joint PPA time giving opportunities to share ideas; strong, knowledgeable senior leaders who have time out of the classroom to focus on developing teaching and learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver well-structured lessons, adapting teaching methods to meet the needs of students.
  • Assess and track progress, providing regular feedback and setting high expectations.
  • Promote a safe and positive learning environment, maintaining good order and discipline among students.
  • Work closely with colleagues, parents, and relevant professionals to ensure the well-being and success of students.
  • Engage in the Trust’s appraisal process, seek further training opportunities, and contribute to the development of others when appropriate.

Sidegate is a vibrant three-form entry primary school in the north of Ipswich. The school hosts a 25 place Specialist Education Unit for pupils with moderate learning difficulties, giving approximately 655 pupils on roll. The school boasts large grounds, an indoor swimming pool, gymnasium and good ICT provision. We pride ourselves in the broad and engaging curriculum we offer our pupils; sport and culture

feature highly and are used to enhance the curriculum in all areas. The school received a “Good” Ofsted rating in October 2022. We were the first primary school in Suffolk to be awarded the prestigious Platinum Artsmark in November 2019; we also hold quality marks in RE, Science and Sport.

Sidegate became an academy in May 2014 with The Active Learning Trust (ALT). ALT encourages each of their schools to develop a curriculum that meets the needs of the pupils in the school. They work closely with the school, providing specialist advisory support as necessary. We work closely with other schools in the ALT Ipswich Hub and the Northgate Pyramid of Schools.
