Class Teacher job summary

Are you the kind of teacher who can turn a rainy Tuesday into an adventure in learning?

Can you ignite curiosity, sprinkle joy into phonics, and guide little learners with warmth, patience, and a good dose of humour?

If so… we think you might just belong with us.

Who Are We?

We’re St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Nympsfield — a friendly, faith-filled village school where every child is known, nurtured, and encouraged to shine. Our community is warm, supportive, and proud of the caring ethos that runs through everything we do.

Above all, St Joseph’s is a place of belonging — a school family where children feel safe to grow, and staff feel valued, supported and trusted.

We are a unique school where teachers can truly teach and children can truly learn: joyfully, confidently and with the freedom to flourish.

We’re searching for a brilliant, imaginative and dedicated KS1 Teacher to join our team from September 2026.

What You’ll Bring

  • A love of teaching young children (especially those who sometimes lose shoes or bring you random sticks “as a present”)
  • High expectations wrapped in kindness
  • A passion for phonics, early reading, hands-on learning and creative teaching
  • The ability to create a classroom full of curiosity, confidence and wonder
  • A commitment to the values of our Catholic school (you do not have to be Catholic, but you must be supportive of our ethos)
  • Team spirit, enthusiasm, and the occasional willingness to join in with a class dance, nativity rehearsal or impromptu sing‑along

What We Offer

  • A welcoming, caring school community where children come first
  • A strong sense of belonging, where every member of staff is encouraged, supported and appreciated
  • Wonderful pupils who will make you laugh daily and impress you often
  • Supportive colleagues who share ideas, biscuits, and a strong sense of purpose
  • Opportunities for professional growth
  • A beautiful village setting where the school feels like a family
  • A chance to make a real difference in the early years of a child’s learning journey
  • A unique environment where teachers can teach, children can learn, and everyone can shine

If you’re looking for a school where your enthusiasm will be appreciated, your ideas welcomed, and your impact felt every single day…St Joseph’s might just be the perfect place for you.
