Separately managed provision, Portland Place Pre-school, provides early years education for pupils from two years of age, until they move into full time education.
In March 2022 we secured a Good Ofsted judgement and in April 2024 we were judged to be upholding our foundation as a Church School with a positive outcome as part of our Statutory Church School Inspection.
We are incredibly proud of our successes, with the support of our dedicated staff team, governors, parents and most importantly the pupils. The successful candidate will be integral in our continuing improvement journey. As a small school, partnership working has been fundamental to our success, and we have ambitious plans to extend and enhance these opportunities as we continue to evolve. A key development has been developing our learning spaces to immerse the children in their topic – creating exciting and stimulating environments to engage with a curriculum linked to the children’s interests and locality. At Sutton, we believe Continuing Professional Development is essential and we are committed to providing a range of training opportunities to support your needs and/or induction, to further enhance the learning opportunities for your pupils. We have ambitious plans to build on the existing strengths of the school, to improve the provision and outcomes for the children. We regularly invest in our ICT provision and children regularly use technology to support their learning. We have significantly invested in the building – enhancing all classrooms, purchasing new classroom furniture, creating a new main entrance, improving the library, creating a new Woodland and Ivy room for small group working and creating new outdoor learning spaces. The reception class have a purpose-built foundation unit which provides a flexible learning space to fully meet the needs of children in the Early Years and key Stage 1.
Our curriculum enables the children to learn knowledge and skills through first-hand experiences with an emphasis on the application of skills across the curriculum and the acquisition and development of knowledge. We are a forward-thinking school and we are part of a number of networks which enable us to learn from other settings to get the very best for our school, to further raise standards. Our staff have visited other schools and we share our best practice with others. We are a school at the heart of its community and are very proud of the links we have with the village, church and the local area. We are lucky to have committed parents, governors and staff who want the very best for our children. We really are very proud of our school and excited about our future!
