What we can offer

Middle Barton is a Good primary school uniquely positioned in a rural West Oxfordshire village. The school sits at the heart of a supportive community who take an active role in all aspects of school life.

The school prides itself on its warm and inclusive approach to both children and staff. Our children are confident, articulate and curious and enjoy coming to school, Across the school, relationships between staff and pupils are positive and nurturing. Pupils are overwhelmingly proud of their school, during an Ofsted inspection one pupil quoted 'this is the best school in the world' Ofsted, Nov 2022

Outdoor learning sits at the heart of everything we do and is embedded into aspects of the curriculum. 'Pupils told inspectors how much they enjoy the practical elements of learning as this brings the curriculum alive for them. They especially enjoy learning in the outdoor classroom' Ofsted, 2022. A pair of wellies and waterproofs are an essential requirement in your working wardrobe!

The leadership team at Middle Barton is experienced and supportive and can offer coaching support and mentorship. The school encourages self development and provides a range of training and development opportunities.

Our school is part of the River Learning Trust; our collective vision is to be a Trust where pupils and staff thrive in schools which demonstrate:

  • sustainable continuous improvement; no school standing still
  • all schools being good and outstanding, or improving rapidly
  • collaboration that is raising standards, and reducing workload

Education has the power to change lives, communities and society for the better. Schools in RLT are united by a common belief in the benefits of working together, and by our commitment to shared principles.

OUR VISION is for our schools and SCITT to improve rapidly, continuously and sustainably: to be better faster together.

OUR ‘WHY?’ is that children and young people ‘only get one go’ in school and therefore as part of RLT we aim to ensure the best possible ‘go’ for our pupils.

OUR ‘HOW?’ is through the highest support and challenge for our schools and each other, underpinned by our principles.

Our employees benefit from a wide variety of support including extensive continuing professional learning and development opportunities, wellbeing and staff networks and access to Defined Benefit Pension Schemes (TPS and LGPS) for all staff. For more information on what it is like to work for the Trust, and the benefits you could access, please see our “Working in RLT” guide.
