Class Teacher - Resource Base job summary
About May Park Primary School
May Park Primary School is a 3-11 community academy in East Central Bristol and a proud member of the Excalibur Academies Trust. We are diverse and vibrant three form entry primary school with a stimulating nursery set in fantastic grounds. Our modern, purpose-built buildings and our extensive outdoor space enable our children unique opportunities to use their creative minds as they explore the woods, Savannah, field and multi-use games area.
At May Park our highly experienced teachers and staff are committed to providing a nurturing environment so that all of our children succeed. By offering an inspiring curriculum, we expect our children to think differently: taking risks with their learning, embracing uncertainty, problem solving, making connections and playing with possibilities.
As part of Excalibur Academies Trust, we benefit from shared expertise and strong governance, whilst maintaining our own unique identity, values and deep community focus.
The Role
We are seeking a passionate and creative teacher to lead a class of pupils with Autism and Speech, Language and Communication needs. Our provision is designed to nurture communication, interaction, and early social skills, underpinned by our school values of Respect, Resilience, Curiosity, Achievement, Equality, and Creativity. With access to specialist inputs, sensory resources, and a curriculum tailored to individual needs, you will be part of a team that celebrates inclusion and empowers every child to thrive.
We are seeking an inspiring Resource Base Teacher to design, plan and deliver high‑quality, engaging learning experiences for all pupils. Aspiration is the heart of every lesson, empowering students to build confidence, develop independence, and think ambitiously about their own futures.
Working in our Resource Base offers you:
- A chance to make a lasting difference in the lives of children with SEND
- Opportunities to design imaginative, play-based and sensory-rich learning experience
- Collaboration with skilled colleagues and visiting specialists to enhance provision
- A chance to be creative and enrich the curriculum through music, the arts, and wider cultural experience
Our teaching style
In our Resource Base learning is delivered through a flexible blend of whole-class, small group, and 1:1 teaching, ensuring every child’s needs are met in the most effective way. You will lead and direct a dedicated team of Learning Support Assistants, working collaboratively to maximise their skills and expertise. Across the school, we promote the use of specialist and shared spaces, from sensory areas to outdoor learning environments, to motivate, regulate, and inspire pupils. This approach ensures children feel supported, engaged, and ready to learn in contexts that build independence and confidence.
This is a role where your creativity, empathy, and ambition will flourish. You’ll have the freedom to shape learning that sparks curiosity, builds independence, and celebrates every child’s achievement.
