Richmond Hill school is a large thriving Primary Special School in Luton that supports children with SLD and complex needs. Richmond hill has grown every year and now has 280 children on roll, this is a testament to the high regard on which it is held by parents and the community alike.
As a large school to further support our vision for all, we moved in September 2021 to a small school model. We have two small schools, Richmond Hill East and Richmond Hill West.
At our school we strive to ensure that learning is purposeful for all and meets the following vision statement.
‘To grow independence, build communication and believe that we can achieve our goals in all that we do’
Each small school specialises in a particular developmental pathway and is tailored to provide the very best support, the most appropriate environment and provision.
We have three developmental pathways: Roots , Shoots and Leaves, more information about these developmental pathways can be found on our website.

We have much to be proud of at Richmond Hill and this is clear to see from your very first visit.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a lively, dedicated and supportive team of professionals who deliver the very best learning opportunities to our special needs children.
We are a good provider special school (Ofsted October 2019) for pupils with SLD and complex needs. Both sites are well resourced, with high quality facilities including superb grounds and outside equipment.
Ofsted highlighted many strengths:
'pupils feel comfortable, happy and safe at school'
'Leaders are ambitious and know what they want pupils to learn'.
'Children benefit from a variety of activities and experiences in a well-resourced and nurturing learning environment'.
Experience of working in a special school is not essential but you must be adaptable, flexible, motivated and able to deliver exciting fun and personalised lessons. We have a comprehensive induction programme and actively encourage staff to be innovative, creative and reflective.
We are extremely proud of our school, which has an excellent reputation and we welcome visits and/or taster days. We want the very best for every child and that starts from choosing the right staff. All prospective staff are encouraged to join us for the day at one of our small schools prior to application to ensure that you enjoy working at our school as much as we do. Richmond Hill is a unique place with truly amazing children. We hope you will consider this as your next steps because we know should you be appointed you will be with us for a long while.
