Class Teacher job summary

At St Laurence Church Infant School, our vision is rooted in 1 Corinthians 16:14: "Do all things with love." The nurturing relationships we build with our children and families are at the heart of everything we do, and our recent SIAMS inspection (June 2026) recognised that children and adults flourish in a welcoming, compassionate community.

As an infant school, we focus on building the strong foundations young children need at the start of their educational journey. We are proud that school here goes beyond academics. Our wellbeing curriculum develops emotional literacy, play and social skills, spirituality, and mental and physical health, so that every child grows with a Love of Learning, Life and Each Other. We warmly welcome people of all faiths and none. As part of the Fioretti Trust family, we are ambitious for every child and committed to an inclusive school where high expectations, strong relationships and excellent teaching enable all children to succeed.

About the Role

We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic and reflective Class Teacher to join our team. We are seeking an excellent practitioner who understands how young children learn, builds warm and nurturing relationships, and is ambitious for every child. You will create a joyful, inclusive and purposeful classroom where children feel safe, loved and inspired to learn.

Whether you are developing your practice or bring significant experience in EYFS or Key Stage 1, you will join a school that values collaboration, professional learning and the contribution every member of staff makes to our children and wider school family.

We Are Looking for Someone Who

  • Is an excellent and enthusiastic early years or KS1 practitioner with high expectations for every child.
  • Delivers high-quality, engaging and inclusive teaching that builds secure foundations in early reading, phonics, writing and mathematics.
  • Has strong curriculum and pedagogical knowledge and uses assessment and observation effectively to inform teaching.
  • Understands the importance of well-sequenced learning that builds securely on what children already know.
  • Uses adaptive teaching effectively so that all children, including those with SEND and disadvantaged pupils, can access and succeed within the curriculum.
  • Values play, talk and emotional literacy, and supports children's wellbeing alongside their learning.
  • Builds warm and trusting relationships with children, families and colleagues, working in genuine partnership with parents.
  • Is reflective, evidence-informed and committed to continued professional development.
  • Works collaboratively and contributes positively to the wider life of the school.
  • Will embrace and actively contribute to our Christian vision and values of kindness, generosity, patience, forgiveness, service, thankfulness and honesty.

We Can Offer You

  • Wonderful children who are curious, kind and proud of their school.
  • A warm, nurturing and inclusive school family where relationships truly matter.
  • A supportive and collaborative staff team committed to doing the very best for our children.
  • A school that places wellbeing at its heart, for children and adults alike.
  • High-quality professional development, coaching and opportunities to develop your practice and career.
  • Opportunities to contribute to curriculum and wider school development.
  • Collaboration and professional learning across the wider Fioretti Trust family.
  • A Silver Rights Respecting School where every child's voice is valued.
  • An inclusive Church school community where everyone is encouraged to do all things with love.
  • Free access to the Wellbeing service provided by Schools Advisory Service (SAS).

Visits to St Laurence are warmly welcomed and encouraged. We would be delighted to show you around, introduce you to our children and staff, and share what makes our school such a special place to be.
