Class Teacher job summary

The Oaktree School is looking for an inspiring and enthusiastic early years teacher who can nurture children’s love of learning by teaching them how to learn, how to care for others and develop an understanding of the world around them.

We are a friendly school with a great team ethos, both working with children and each other. We continually strive for high standards in our school, but still have time for fun and enjoyment! We will provide a full induction, with an allocated induction mentor and buddy, opportunities to develop your skills and further your career.

We are looking for an experienced teacher with at least 2 years’ early years’ practice. In addition to its high academic performance, the school values creativity across the curriculum and exciting hands-on learning for our children. Work areas are large, bright and well-resourced. We have a large learning resource centre which houses an ICT suite, small group areas and library. Our Forest School, vegetable growing and outside learning areas provide children with the opportunity to learn through experience.

The Oaktree School is part of The Swan Trust, a multi-academy trust comprised of six Woking schools (all within the Primary phase). We have a shared ethos and work collaboratively to provide the best possible opportunities for all pupils across the trust.

We would like you to:
• Love teaching inside the classroom and in our outside learning environments.
• Treat children as individuals who can achieve whatever they set out to achieve.
• Have a track record of excellence, either in a current teaching role, or your teacher training.
• Enjoy delivering consistently good lessons.
• Be resilient and willing to work hard.
• Be professional in your conduct.

Please telephone the school office 01483 474981 or email HR@swantrust.co.uk if you wish to book a visit, to request an electronic application pack, or ask any questions.

We are a three form entry infant school with 270 children. Our Steering Group (the Leadership team) comprises of the Headteacher, Deputy, School Business Manager and two TLRs.

At the Oaktree School we believe that every child is unique, with unique gifts and abilities. Our role is not merely to promote the individual learning of the child but also to draw out all his/her unique gifts and to see that each child is valued for his or her particular contribution.

Everyone at the school strives to be ‘the best they can be’ whether that be children or staff. Teachers sign up to a culture of change and innovation and are prepared to take risks. The school uses a coaching model for raising performance, and consequently staff are engaged in a continuous dialogue about learning.
