Class Teacher (Upper Key Stage 2) job summary

Story Wood School is seeking to appoint an experienced, inspirational and ambitious Class Teacher to join our school, initially within Upper Key Stage 2. We are looking for a practitioner who can demonstrate high expectations and a commitment to raising standards for all learners. While this post is initially for Upper KS2, the successful candidate will join a collaborative staff where teachers may be asked to teach in any phase of the school to meet the needs of our pupils.

We are a very friendly and busy school. We are situated in the heart of Perry Common, in Birmingham with a passion for improving the lives of our community.

For a candidate with the right expertise, there is the potential to take on the whole-school strategic lead for English. In this role, you would lead the development of our English curriculum to ensure it is progressive and well-sequenced across all key stages. You will use your expert subject knowledge to coach colleagues and monitor teaching and learning to ensure high-quality delivery across the school.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed classroom practitioner to join our successful team. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate they have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and successful primary teaching experience, preferably within Key Stage 2.

  • A proven track record of delivering good or outstanding outcomes and a deep understanding of how children learn.

  • The ability to plan and deliver engaging, innovative learning experiences that ignite curiosity in older primary pupils.

  • Communicate effectively, and contribute positively as part of a collaborative team

  • A commitment to the school’s values of Respect, Responsibility, and Resilience.
