About Us:

Porchester Junior School is a good school (OFSTED, October 2021) at the heart of Carlton, providing a high-quality, inclusive, and enriching education for children aged 7-11. Our vision and ethos guide everything we do, as we continually strive to develop knowledgeable, passionate, and confident individuals who take pride in who they are and aspire to be the best versions of themselves.

We are the PRIDE of Porchester, and our core values—Respect, Aspiration, Responsibility, Confidence, and Resilience—are the foundation of our school community. These values are demonstrated daily by our staff and children, fostering an environment where everyone is encouraged to grow, achieve, and succeed.

At Porchester, we strive to provide our children with a high-quality education and meaningful experiences that support and develop the whole child. We are committed to ensuring that all pupils achieve every day, with opportunities that challenge, inspire, and prepare them for life beyond primary school.

We don’t just focus on academic success; we also nurture essential life skills, character, and confidence, ensuring our children are ready for the challenges of the future. Our goal is to make sure that every pupil leaves Porchester not only ‘secondary ready’ but also prepared for life in modern Britain, with a strong sense of identity, responsibility, and ambition.

At Porchester, children always come first. We believe that every child is unique, and we are dedicated to ensuring that each one reaches their full potential in a learning environment that is engaging, inclusive, and ambitious. Our child-focused approach fosters a love of learning and helps pupils develop the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to shape their own futures. Our commitment to pupil leadership and empowerment is embedded in everything we do. We actively encourage our students to take responsibility for their learning, develop independence, and make positive contributions within and beyond the school community. We don’t just teach lessons—we inspire futures.

Porchester is more than just a school; it is a family. We are proud of the strong relationships we have built with our children, staff, and families. As described by our pupils in our recent OFSTED report, we are “a family away from home” (OFSTED, 2021). We foster a culture of belonging, mutual respect, and trust, where every child feels safe, valued, and supported.

At Porchester, we invest in our staff. We believe in continuous professional development, providing opportunities for our team members to grow, learn, and take on leadership responsibilities. As a school committed to innovation and best practice, we encourage our staff to bring fresh ideas, drive change, and inspire excellence.

If you are an enthusiastic, child-focused professional, we would love to hear from you! At Porchester Junior School, we are an inspiring team that works collaboratively to make a real difference in children’s lives. Join us and become part of a supportive, ambitious, and inclusive team, where every child is at the centre of all we do.
