About this Role

The leaders and governors of Chaucer Junior School are excited to share with you a rare opportunity to join our friendly, well-established team.

Following a career change for a long-standing member of our Senior Leadership Team, we are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic class teacher with a view to becoming a permanent member of our Chaucer family. Our greatest priority is to find the best practitioner to fulfil the role of class teacher, but we are excited to offer an opportunity to join our leadership team for the right candidate.

  • enthusiasm and the skill to innovate the curriculum, delivering learning in new and engaging ways
  • high expectations of all children’s achievements and behaviour, whilst remaining compassionate and supportive
  • interpersonal skills which allow for collaboration with the team and good relationships with children and parents

What can we provide?

We believe that Chaucer provides a healthy and positive work place environment, where staff feel valued and trusted. As part of this culture, we can offer the following:

  • friendly and enthusiastic children
  • a positive, nurturing atmosphere
  • opportunities for professional development within our school and across our growing trust
  • happy and supportive staff and leaders
  • healthcare and wellbeing support through our partners, Education Mutual
  • employment perks via Embark's benefits and rewards package

Leadership role

The responsibilities associated with the leadership role are Maths and Assessment, alongside the more general aspects of the position. In order to carry out these responsibilities, the successful candidate would be given a minimum of half a day of leadership time per week, alongside their usual PPA entitlement.

How to apply

When completing your application, you will find that there are additional questions asking whether you wish to be considered for a TLR and whether you would be interested in the post without the additional leadership responsibilities - please answer these to reflect your preferences. We would be more than happy to respond to any queries regarding this aspect of the application and contact details can be found below.

Please note that there are additional documents which should be taken into account when writing your personal statement should you be interested in the TLR: 'Person Specification - Senior Leader' and 'Job Description - Senior Leader'. These should be referenced in the personal statement, alongside the Class Teacher versions.

Who should apply?

Our priority is finding the right candidate for the post so teachers of all experience are warmly encouraged to apply, including ECTs. If you have the qualities we are looking for and are attracted by what we have to offer, we look forward to hearing from you.

Visits to the school are strongly encouraged and warmly welcomed by prior appointment. If you have any questions about the post, please do not hesitate to contact us.
