Class Teacher with SENDCO responsibilities job summary

Job Title: Primary School Teacher with SENDCO Responsibilities (0.6 SENDCO / 0.4 Class Cover)

About the Role:

  • 0.6 (3 days)SENDCO: Lead and manage SEND provision across the school, supporting pupils with additional needs, line managing Teaching Assistants, working closely with families, staff, and external agencies.
  • 0.4 (2 days)Teacher Cover: Deliver high-quality teaching across various year groups, providing release time and PPA cover as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of the SEND policy
  • Coordinate provision for children with SEND
  • Advise on the graduated approach to providing SEND support
  • Maintain accurate SEND records and contribute to EHCPs and reviews
  • Work alongside teachers to support inclusive teaching strategies
  • Provide engaging, inclusive teaching in a cover capacity across the school

About You:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • National Award for SEN Coordination (or willing to complete)
  • Proven experience in SEND and/or a leadership role within a primary setting
  • Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice
  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
  • A collaborative approach and a genuine passion for supporting all learners
