What skills and experience we're looking for

Our Opportunity

We are looking to appoint a highly motivated colleague to join our school, work with our children, and provide the support they need to be their best.

This rewarding role will allow you to work with various classes and age groups; including inside and outside the classroom, in small groups, and acting to support the class teacher.

You will also have the opportunity to get out of the classroom and help enrich our pupils’ educational experience by taking part in school trips and activities.

Set in a historic school in the heart of Scarborough, we are very much an extension of local families and communities, and we pride ourselves on being able to offer more than just ‘schooling’.

We make the most of what is in the local area to provide pupils with a variety of educational experiences, ranging from annual trips to the beach in the summertime, attending local museums and art galleries, castles and more. Linking the curriculum to offsite activities to bring learning to life.

This is a very varied role, and no two days are ever the same!

Essential:

  • The successful candidate must hold English and Maths GCSE level ‘C’ or equivalent
  • Appropriate experience working with children in an education setting
  • Relevant NVQ Level 2 qualification or equivalent (Level 2 NVQ is equivalent to 4-5 GCSE, grades A through C or a Level 2 BTEC)

You will:

  • Be able to support in the delivery of high-quality learning experiences for all pupils
  • Be supportive, nurturing and understanding
  • Seek to make learning exciting and a positive experience
  • Work well as part of a team
  • Demonstrate good communication skills both orally and in writing

What the school offers its staff

  • A school with a renewed focus that puts pastoral and nurture provision at its heart and an aspirational outlook for our children
  • Happy, enthusiastic children who are thriving and have a thirst for learning
  • Clear and tailored CPD for all staff

We would love the opportunity to see you thrive and develop your career here at Gladstone Road.

Working in our school is incredibly rewarding. Our support staff are highly regarded, and we pride ourselves on developing our support colleagues to excel and further develop their career through specialised training and career paths.
