Norwich Primary Academy is looking for an enthusiastic, and inspiring Classroom Assistant to join our team. You will be an inspirational practitioner who is passionate about raising achievement through motivating and inspiring students, who will also contribute to the vision and values of the school.


The role involves supporting SEND children in the classroom and in one to one situations, although you may be asked to support across other key stages where necessary. You will be motivated to enable access to learning for pupils, including specialised support for those with special education needs. You should be able to work effectively as part of a team, following the direction of the teachers as well as working under your own initiative.

The main responsibility of this role will be:

  • To work under the instruction/guidance of teaching/senior staff.
  • To work within the overall ethos of the Academy.
  • To undertake care and learning programmes and activities to support individuals or groups of pupils, including more specialised support for those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) or EAL (English as an Additional Language).
  • To enable access to learning for pupils and assist the teacher in the management of pupils and the classroom.


The ideal candidate will have:

  • Good numeracy/literacy skills
  • Experience of working with primary children
  • Experience supporting children with high needs SEND and behaviour needs
  • Experience of leading interventions to support learning
  • Ability to use a range of relevant technology
  • Experience of teaching RWI phonics scheme would be desirable.
