Class Teacher
Merrydale Junior School
Grade: MPS M1 - A great opportunity for an ECT
FTE percentage: 1fte and then moving to part time.
Contract Type: Fixed Term and Maternity Cover
This a fixed term role from August 2025 -February 2026 to cover a member of staff on Maternity Leave. The Maternity cover is a full time 1fte Teacher.
Once the member of staff has returned to work the role will become part time at 0.50 fte from February 2025 – July 2026. There may be opportunity to extend after the first year, although we cannot guarantee.

What Makes Discovery Different:

- In addition to their TDT, teachers also work alongside a coach, to ensure they have someone to discuss their learning with and help identify their strengths and areas for development.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver the curriculum as relevant to the age and ability group/subject/s that you teach.
- Be responsible for the preparation and development of teaching materials, teaching programmes and pastoral arrangements as appropriate.
- Be accountable for the attainment, progress and outcomes of pupils’ you teach
- Be aware of pupils’ capabilities, their prior knowledge and plan teaching and differentiate appropriately to build on this demonstrating knowledge and 2 of 5 understanding of how pupils learn

Qualifications:: Qualified to degree level including Qualified Teacher Status
