What the school offers its staff
Athelstan Primary School is rated as a ‘good school’. We are a wonderfully vibrant community, where children and adults from many diverse cultures, beliefs and backgrounds blend together to create Team Athelstan. We are an incredible team, who work very hard and who genuinely want to make the difference for all our pupils. We are looking for teachers to become part of this team.
Our pupils generally achieved well, often exceeding national standards in formal tests. Just as importantly, however, we believe that the broader provision we offer our pupils is crucial to developing the whole child and his or her unique interests and talents. Our varied curriculum has enabled us to achieve many awards, recognising the high quality of our subject leadership and delivery; these include the Primary Science Gold quality mark, the Gold Sports’ mark, the Silver Arts’ mark and the Silver Geography mark. In addition to these awards, we were also granted Green Flag Eco-school status in summer 2021.
For a number of years, we were the model school for Read, Write, Inc in Sheffield until this system stopped last year.
In return we will offer you: a happy welcoming school; willing, friendly children; supportive, hard-working staff with shared high expectations; a strong driven, forward thinking Leadership, with a strong emphasis on the health and well-being of staff, and achieving a good work-life balance. This is evidenced in our Team Athelstan Guarantee, full details will be sent with your application pack.
The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS disclosure is required.
