Classroom Teacher (KS1) job summary

Hooe Primary Academy is seeking a committed KS1 Classroom Teacher to join our vibrant, inclusive school community. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact by empowering young learners and helping shape their educational journey.

About the Role

The successful candidate will take responsibility for teaching a KS1 class, delivering high-quality lessons that engage, inspire and challenge all learners. You will play a key role in ensuring every child achieves their full potential—academically, socially and emotionally.

Working collaboratively with colleagues, you’ll contribute to a strong team ethos and be an active participant in the wider life of the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual needs
  • Monitor, assess and track pupil progress, setting clear targets for achievement
  • Deliver statutory and non-statutory assessments
  • Create a stimulating, well-organised classroom environment
  • Lead and support support staff effectively within the classroom
  • Promote high standards of behaviour through a positive and relational approach
  • Work closely with parents, carers and external agencies to support pupil development
  • Contribute to KS1 development and support colleagues within the phase
  • Uphold the school’s vision, values and inclusive ethos

  • Has experience in KS1 and a strong understanding of phonics and early reading
  • Has high expectations for every child and refuses to let disadvantage be a barrier
  • Uses assessment effectively to drive progress and outcomes

  • Is committed to inclusion, safeguarding and the wellbeing of all pupils
  • Brings energy, initiative and a collaborative approach to teamwork

We are a one form entry school within Hooe which was established in 1926. We have a fantastic school site with three playgrounds, a large school field, and additional classroom spaces which are used for a range of activities. Our primary aim is to encourage all our pupils to be self-confident, inquiring, tolerant, positive individuals, who have respect for the differences of others.
