Job Role: Teacher (maternity cover)

Pay Range: Main/Upper Pay Range (M1-UPR3)

Salary: £32,916 - £51,048

Start Date: 1st September 2026

The Role:

At Monkwick Infant and Nursery school, we operate under the guiding principle that anything is possible. We are dedicated to fostering a stimulating, inclusive environment where every child is empowered to achieve their absolute best.

Vacancies at Monkwick Infant and Nursery school are rare. This represents a unique opportunity to join a stable, high-achieving, and deeply collaborative staff. We are a team defined by our commitment to the local community and our collective drive to provide the very best for our children. We are currently seeking a high-calibre, enthusiastic, and conscientious Class Teacher to join our team on a maternity cover basis.

The Role

This position is designed for a practitioner who understands that academic success is rooted in emotional security. We require a team player with a holistic approach to education—someone who can balance the rigour of the curriculum with the nurturing touch required for EYFS and Key Stage 1.

In an infant setting, flexibility is essential. We are looking for a professional who can adapt to the evolving needs of the classroom while maintaining exemplary behaviour management strategies and a calm, purposeful learning atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities

Excellence in Phonics: Deliver high-impact, systematic synthetic phonics lessons that inspire a lifelong love of reading. You will demonstrate a sophisticated understanding of how young children acquire early literacy skills through "amazing" daily practice.

Holistic Pedagogy: Design and implement a curriculum that addresses the "whole child," ensuring that social, emotional, and physical development are prioritized alongside academic milestones.

Adaptive Teaching: Work collaboratively with Learning Support Assistants and the SENCo to ensure that all students, particularly those with SEND, are fully supported and challenged.

Community Partnership: Maintain proactive and empathetic communication with parents and carers, fostering transparent relationships that support the school’s role at the heart of the community.
