Classroom Teacher – Maths job summary

We are seeking to appoint a Teacher of Maths at Maiden Erlegh Chiltern Edge. This role focuses on delivering high quality teaching and learning so that all students make strong progress, achieve high academic standards and experience a safe, purposeful and ambitious learning environment.

You will plan, resource and deliver effective Maths lessons across your allocated timetable. You will contribute to curriculum delivery and development, ensuring that teaching is inclusive and supports disadvantaged students, those with SEND and the most able. You will also take on a form tutor role, supporting students’ personal development, behaviour and attendance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver highly effective Maths lessons in line with Trust and school frameworks to secure strong progress and attainment
  • Use assessment effectively to inform teaching, provide feedback and close gaps in performance
  • Maintain high standards of behaviour for learning and create a safe, purposeful classroom environment
  • Contribute to curriculum delivery, including cross-curricular elements such as literacy and numeracy
  • Support students’ preparation for internal and external assessments and examinations
  • Act as a form tutor, delivering tutor time and supporting students’ personal development and wellbeing
  • Build positive relationships with students, parents and colleagues to support learning and progress
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school, including enrichment, extra-curricular activities and whole-school events
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the Trust to share effective practice and support improvement

The Ideal Candidate

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree
  • Strong subject knowledge in Maths and the ability to deliver engaging lessons
  • Ability to use a range of teaching strategies to support and challenge all learners
  • Commitment to high expectations, inclusion and overcoming barriers to learning
  • Effective behaviour management and the ability to create a positive learning environment
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Willingness to contribute to the wider life of the school and uphold Trust values
