Classroom Teacher job summary
The Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic, committed and skilled Year 1 Class Teacher to join our friendly and supportive team on a fixed-term maternity cover basis for one year from 23rd February 2026. The successful candidate will have experience of teaching in Key Stage 1, ideally Year 1, and demonstrate strong subject knowledge in early reading and systematic synthetic phonics. Experience of Little Wandle is desirable, although experience with a comparable phonics programme will be considered. They will plan and deliver high-quality, well-structured lessons that meet the needs of all learners, use assessment effectively to promote good progress and outcomes and adapt teaching to respond to pupils’ strengths and needs in line with the Teachers’ Standards. The post holder will set high expectations that inspire, motivate and challenge pupils, create a positive, inclusive and well-managed classroom environment and work collaboratively with colleagues as part of a supportive school community.
