Curriculum Lead

We are seeking an exceptional teacher and passionate leader to take on the role of Curriculum Lead at St Wilfrid’s Catholic Academy. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced educator to shape and drive whole‑school curriculum development, ensuring an ambitious, coherent, and exciting curriculum that reflects both our Catholic mission and the needs of our pupils.

As Curriculum Lead, you will play a crucial role in raising standards, supporting colleagues, and championing high‑quality teaching and learning. You will work closely with senior leaders and staff across the Trust to ensure our curriculum is well‑designed, progressive, inclusive, and continually improving.

Comprehensive support, mentoring, and access to Trust‑wide leadership networks will be provided to enable you to thrive in this strategic role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the whole‑school curriculum, ensuring coherence, ambition, and alignment with our Catholic ethos
  • Support colleagues in planning and delivering high‑quality, well‑sequenced learning experiences
  • Model excellent classroom practice, providing guidance, coaching, and curriculum expertise
  • Monitor curriculum implementation and standards across subjects, identifying strengths and areas for development
  • Drive improvement in teaching and learning through collaboration, training, and strategic leadership
  • Work with leaders and staff to ensure curriculum intent and impact are clearly articulated and evidenced
  • Contribute to the wider leadership of the school, promoting excellence, inclusion, and spiritual development

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • A strong understanding of curriculum design and progression
  • Proven experience of teaching in a primary setting
  • Commitment to professional growth, leadership development, and school improvement
  • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to foster a positive, safe learning environment
  • A genuine passion for supporting children’s academic, personal, and spiritual development

Desirable Qualities

  • Experience leading a curriculum area or supporting colleagues
  • Familiarity with current curriculum research and pedagogical developments
  • Understanding of Catholic Schools Inspectorate (CSI) expectations
  • Excellent interpersonal, organisational, and communication skills
  • Experience contributing to or leading whole‑school initiatives
