What skills and experience we're looking for
Purpose of the Role
To ensure that designated areas of the primary school are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness, hygiene, and safety, providing a welcoming and healthy environment for pupils, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
The postholder will be responsible for carrying out cleaning duties in line with agreed standards and schedules, including but not limited to:
- Wiping and sanitising surfaces to the required standard
- Vacuuming carpeted areas
- Dusting furniture, fixtures, and fittings
- Sweeping and mopping hard floor surfaces
- Emptying and disposing of waste from bins
- Cleaning toilets, washrooms, basins, and sinks
- Using mop and bucket systems
- Working as part of a team
Materials and Supplies
- Monitor cleaning supplies and notify the supervisor when stock levels are low
- Ensure the correct cleaning materials and equipment are used for each task
- Work in accordance with COSHH regulations as they apply within a school environment
Health and Safety
- Follow agreed risk assessments when moving furniture or equipment for cleaning purposes
- Ensure all cleaning materials are stored securely and are not accessible to children
- Ensure all cleaning products are kept in appropriate, clearly labelled containers
- Report any health and safety concerns encountered during duties (e.g. trailing cables, damaged flooring, spillages) to the appropriate member of staff
Line Management
- Responsible to the Site Manager & Head of School, who will allocate areas of work and cleaning schedules
