REPORTS TO: Caretaker / School Business Manager
ACCOUNTABLE TO: Headteacher
GRADE OF POST: B5 - £20,733pa, pro rated to working hours and weeks
LOCATION: St Andrew’s Infant School, Farnham
PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To maintain the school premises to a high standard of cleanliness; required to clean all rooms, including classrooms, offices, toilets, cloakrooms, staircases, corridors, halls and all other areas in use.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS: The normal duties of the post holder will usually include the following:
1. To be responsible for cleaning the school site
2. To use cleaning equipment and chemicals as instructed by the caretaker.
3. To operate cleaning machinery in cleaning soft and hard surfaces, eg. vacuum cleaners and polishers
4. To work to within the guidelines of the school’s Health and Safety Policy
5. Duties to include the following:
- Vacuum cleaning hard and soft floors
- Spot cleaning of spillages
- Wiping furniture, ledges, pipes, paintwork, doors and polishing door glass
- Emptying and cleaning waste and recycling bins
- Cleaning bathrooms
- Mopping and spray cleaning hard floor surfaces
- Wiping and polishing and straightening furniture
- Replenishing supplies in toilets and classrooms, etc
- Checking and closing windows, switching off lights and locking up the school after work
- Such other duties as may be allocated from time to time
- All defects/hazards must be immediately reported to the Caretaker or Business Manager
Notes: This position is term time only (38 weeks per year). During holiday periods, you may be contracted to undertake a deep clean of the premises. This will be discussed with the successful applicant on a term by term basis.
