Clerk to the Governing Body job summary
The Clerk to the Governors is responsible for providing high level advice to the Governing Body on constitution, governance and procedural manners as well as providing effective administrative support, including preparing and attending all committee meetings, taking minutes, keeping records and advising on local and national developments that will impact Governor's work.
The Clerk will work closely with our Chair of Governors and it is essential you are proactive, can work under your own direction and manage day to day issues that arise whilst keeping the Chair fully informed. The role allows for a mixture of both school based and working from home.
The role includes:
Providing effective administrative support to the Governing Body and its sub-committees.
Attending all governor meetings throughout the academic year - 3 Full Governing Body meetings and 6 sub-committee meetings (held during school hours and in the early evening)
Preparing and circulating agendas and paperwork in advance of meetings
Taking accurate, concise minutes at meetings and circulating them as required
Maintaining Governing Body documentation in school
Using GovernorHub and other IT
Providing advice to the Governing Body on legal and procedural matters
Attending appropriate training (which may be in the daytime or online)
The governing body holds 3 Full Governing Body meetings during the academic year which are held either in the evenings as well as 6 committee meetings a year which are held either in the evenings or during the school day.
Experience of working in a school or as a Clerk to the Governing Body is essential.
