Job summary

We are looking for a competent teacher of Computer Science to join our special team commencing in April 2020. I am only seeking excellent teachers who are able to teach 14-19 year olds, will secure excellent rates of student progress, are confident and highly organised team players. In addition, the post holder will have the required leadership and management skills to undertake the role of Subject Coordinator Computer Science. Computing is a very popular and growing subject option at KS4 and the Sixth Form at UTC Portsmouth. Students who opt for the subject are characteristically very keen. Many have experience of computing before they join the college and a large proportion also often programme for fun outside of college.

Essential educational requirements

Good honours degree
Qualified Teacher Status (or FE/HE equivalent)
Evidence of commitment to Continuing Professional Development

Essential qualifications

Strong academic background. PGCE, QTS/QTLS

Essential skills and experience

An effective teaching career, with a track record of above-average exam outcomes for students
An up-to-date knowledge of best classroom practice, including use of assessment for learning
A secure knowledge of good practice for child protection
Good organisational and communication skills
Ability to work effectively to deadlines
Ability to work as part of a team
Ability to communicate effectively and confidently with people at all levels
An ability to inspire young people
A determination not to tolerate underachievement
