Cover Supervisor - Healing Academy

The role:

  • Location: Healing Academy, Grimsby

  • Salary Scale: Scale 4, Points 7-11 £26,403 - £28,142 (FTE)

Term time plus 5 days

  • Reports to: Assistant Principal

As a Cover Supervisor, your primary goal is to ensure that student learning continues seamlessly during the short-term absence of teaching staff. You won't just be "watching a class"; you will be an active presence, motivating students and maintaining a productive, safe, and harmonious environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Classroom Supervision: Lead classes and instruct students on work set by subject teachers.
  • Student Support: Answer queries, encourage peer mentoring, and assist with revision.
  • Behaviour Management: Maintain high standards of behavior across the school site, following our established policies.
  • School Culture: Participate in the daily duty rota (break/lunch) and cover form tutor periods.
  • Holistic Care: Provide first aid and assist with medical checks/medication (full training provided).
  • Departmental Assistance: Support the Library, Math, and English departments with administrative tasks when cover is not required
The Person: What We Are Looking For

You should be a flexible, "outward-facing" professional who enjoys collaboration and exhibits kindness and empathy in your work.

Essential Requirements:

  • Education: 5 GCSEs (including English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above).

  • Experience: Previous experience working with young people, including coaching or mentoring.

  • Skills: Strong ICT skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

  • Attributes: Punctual, polite, and organised with a "can-do" attitude.
