QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate will have a professional background and approach to life and will be expected to maintain high standards in all aspects of their work. It is expected that the successful candidate would possess the following attributes:

Essential

  • Numeracy and literacy skills equivalent to NVQ Level 2 or GCSE Grade C/ Grade 4 in Maths and English.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and with a minimum of supervision.
  • Ability to work with a calm and supportive approach.
  • Ability to manage students in a classroom setting.
  • Competence in the use of ICT to support teaching and learning.

Desirable

  • Experience of working in a school environment

Further details about the role

Buckler's Mead Academy has a vacancy for a Cover Supervisor. The appointed candidate will be required to liaise with the Cover Manager and Senior Leadership Team to provide classroom based cover for absent teachers, ensuring a calm and purposeful working atmosphere. Duties will include settling and supervising classes, explaining the work that has been set, distribution and collection of materials in the lesson and to help students with their learning as required. Hours of work will be 32.5 hours per week (08:15 – 15:15 Monday to Friday), term time only plus 2 additional INSET days.

The varied nature of the role requires someone who can deal with students in a steady and firm way but who believes strongly in mutual respect. A good sense of humour is an advantage along with a genuine interest in working with students aged between 11 and 16.
