Cover Supervisor job summary
Frisby Church of England Primary School is seeking to appoint a reliable, enthusiastic and adaptable Cover Supervisor to join our dedicated and supportive team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about education and enjoys working with children to support their learning and development.
As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a key role in maintaining continuity of learning in the absence of the class teacher. You will be responsible for supervising whole classes, ensuring pupils remain engaged with work that has been planned and set by teaching staff. Working across the school, you will help create a positive learning environment where children feel supported, motivated and able to succeed.
The successful candidate will be confident in managing a classroom, promoting positive behaviour and responding appropriately to any issues that arise during lessons. You will support pupils in accessing learning activities, providing guidance with literacy, numeracy and organisational skills where required, while encouraging independence and resilience.
You will work closely with teachers and colleagues to ensure lessons run smoothly, providing effective feedback on pupil engagement, progress and any concerns arising during cover sessions. In addition, you will contribute to maintaining a safe, secure and stimulating learning environment, drawing upon a range of activities to keep pupils engaged and productive should planned work be completed ahead of schedule.
The role also includes supporting the organisation of cover arrangements for both planned and unplanned staff absences, contributing to the review and development of relevant school policies, and assisting in evaluating the impact of cover provision across the school. As a valued member of our staff team, you will build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and families, demonstrating the school's Christian values of aspiration, compassion, respect, resilience, friendship and responsibility in all aspects of your work.
We are looking for an individual who has excellent communication and organisational skills, can work effectively on their own initiative, and has the confidence and flexibility to work across different classes and age groups. Experience of working with children in an educational setting would be advantageous, although enthusiasm, commitment and a genuine desire to support young people's learning are equally important.
In return, we offer the opportunity to work within a caring, inclusive and aspirational Church of England school where our vision of "Growing with hope; serving with compassion; transforming with humility" shapes everything we do. You will join a welcoming and dedicated team that is committed to ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive and achieve their full potential.
