Cover Supervisor job summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Cover Supervisor to join our dedicated school team. This is a rewarding role for someone who is passionate about education and supporting young people to succeed. You will provide high-quality classroom supervision during the short-term absence of teaching staff, ensuring students remain engaged in learning through the delivery of pre-planned lessons and activities.
Working closely with teachers, support staff and curriculum leaders, you will help maintain a positive, inclusive and productive learning environment. The role also involves promoting excellent behaviour, supporting student wellbeing, safeguarding young people, and contributing to the wider life of the school. When cover requirements are limited, you may provide additional support across departments, assist with examinations, support students with additional needs, and contribute to wider school activities.

- Experience supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and/or English as an Additional Language (EAL).
- The confidence to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.
- Good ICT skills and the ability to use technology to support learning.
- A proactive and flexible approach to supporting the wider needs of the school.

Overall Purpose of the role:
As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring continuity of learning by providing short-term cover in the absence of the classroom teacher. You will support students by facilitating educational activities, fostering social development, and ensuring their physical and emotional well-being.
Working collaboratively as part of a dedicated team, including teachers and support staff, you will contribute to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment. Your role will be instrumental in maintaining high expectations for student behaviour and achievement, helping them reach their full potential.

Safeguarding Requirement:
This post requires the post holder to work in settings with children and young adults. Any employment offer is therefore subject to the results of an Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). People who may have contact with younger children (i.e. primary school age) are also required to complete a declaration about family or other members of their household.

- Experience of working in school environment for at least 2 years
- Experience of working with children who have SEN / EAL
- Experience of teaching individuals, groups and whole classes
- Excellent behaviour management skills
- Ability to use ICT to support learning
- Ability to monitor and evaluate impact of interventions and strategies
