What skills and experience we're looking for

The Governors of Oswald Road Primary School are looking to appoint a highly skilled, flexible, experienced, self-motivated and organised Level 4 Teaching Assistant, to work as a Cover Supervisor to support our high standards of teaching and learning in the situation where a class teacher is not available.

The successful candidate will have high expectations and an understanding of raising achievement for all children. Excellent numeracy, literacy and IT skills to support lessons are essential.

The role will involve cover across our large primary school, including our Early Years.

The cover will be for day to day absence, as well as planned cover - for example, for subject leader release time.

Teachers in the school will leave the cover plans, which will then be led by the cover supervisor during the cover sessions.

The role also includes organising cover. Whilst ideally most cover will be done by our Cover Supervisors, there are times across the week when cover is needed from TA3s across school and it is the role of the Cover Supervisor to organise this.

We would welcome candidates who have TA3 experience in a primary school - ideally across age ranges.

We would also welcome candidates ahead of them starting their ECT years. Over the years, candidates have applied for this role, and then from this developed into an ECT position. The role provides a wealth of experience, setting new teachers off to a great start to their teaching career.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be personable and friendly
  • Be committed to their own professional development
  • Be dedicated to school improvement and the success of Oswald Road Primary School
  • Have the ability to work successfully in a team
  • Be highly motivated individual who will ensure the best possible outcomes for the people they work with
  • Be able to work on their own initiative
  • Have excellent communication skills

To apply for this role you must complete an application on the vacancies page of our school website.
