Cover Supervisor job summary
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
This is a description of the main duties and responsibilities of the post at the date of production. The duties may change over time as requirements and circumstances change. The post-holder may reasonably be expected to undertake other duties commensurate with the level of responsibility from time to time.
Supervision of pupils in undertaking the work that has been set by a teacher.
Managing the behaviour of pupils whilst they are undertaking this work to ensure a constructive environment.
Responding to any questions from pupils about process and procedures.
Dealing with any immediate problems or emergencies according to the academy’s policies and procedures, in particular the academy behaviour management policy.
Taking responsibility for the safeguarding and health and safety of pupils whilst in the class.
Collecting completed work from pupils and passing it to the appropriate teacher.
Reporting, as appropriate using the academy’s agreed referral procedures, on the behaviour of pupils during the class and on any problems arising.
When not deployed to supervise mainstream lessons, cover supervisors may be deployed elsewhere in support of colleagues, including the provision of admin support.
After-school duties may include supervising detentions and supervision of pupils leaving the site.
This job description will be reviewed regularly and any changes will be made in consultation with the post-holder.
