What skills and experience we're looking for
We require an enthusiastic and flexible person to join our committed team of support staff. The successful candidate will primarily be required to provide learning and behaviour support to small groups of students and supervise full classes while students continue with work set by a teacher during a short-term absence.
However, we are also keen to recruit a colleague who can provide flexible support in a wider range of roles and other duties could include supporting our Learning Resource Centre, creating resources in reprographics, contributing to school displays or supporting a subject they have specific skills or interests in. We are very welcome to hear candidates own ideas regarding skills they could offer during times when cover supervision is not required.
Qualities required are firmness and patience, flexibility, good communication skills and the ability to relate to young people! Applicants should be literate and numerate with an education standard equating to GCSE Grade C in English and Maths, or equivalent NVQ level 2 or 3, or BTEC in Learning Support.
What the school offers its staff
This is a great time to join our school as we have recently established a multi-academy trust with three of our feeder primary schools and there might be opportunities to work closely with these schools. Results across the school at GCSE and A2 were very strong in both attainment and progress.
Further details about the role
Keep Children Safe in Education
The Minerva Learning Trust will conduct online searches of shortlisted candidates. This check will be part of a safeguarding check, and the search will purely be based on whether an individual is suitable to work with children. As care must be taken to avoid unconscious bias and any risk of discrimination a person who will not be on the appointment panel will conduct the search and will only share information if and when findings are relevant and of concern.
The Minerva Learning Trust is committed to safeguarding and all successful applicants will be vetted through a DBS check
Commitment to safeguarding
This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment.
