Cover Supervisor job summary
The Role (AKA: Your Daily Adventure)
As our Cover Supervisor, you’ll be the heroic figure who steps in when teachers are away, keeping learning on track and spirits high.
You’ll be:
Commanding the classroom — with confidence, humour, and the occasional raised eyebrow of doom.
Keeping students engaged — even when they insist they’ve “never done this topic before”.
Delivering set work — and making it look effortless.
Being the calm centre — even when 9C has big Friday-afternoon energy.
Supporting the wider school — because UCS is a team sport.
🎯 Who You Are
You’re the kind of person who:
Thrives on variety — no two days, lessons, or student excuses are ever the same
Has a natural authority without being scary
Can explain instructions three times without losing the will to live
Enjoys teenagers (most of the time)
Has a sense of humour strong enough to survive Year 8
Can spot off-task whispering at 50 metres
🏫 Why UCS?
Because UCS is more than a school — it’s a community full of curiosity, kindness, and the occasional rogue football in the corridor.
You’ll get:
An additional day of leave - a wellness day to focus on your wellbeing
Cycle to work scheme and family friendly policies
Local Government Pension Scheme
A supportive, forward-thinking school community
Supportive colleagues who genuinely have your back
Students who will surprise you daily
A role where you make a real difference
A workplace where laughter is part of the job description
🚀 Ready to Step Into the Classroom Spotlight?
If you’re organised, energetic, and ready to guide students through the beautiful chaos of learning, we’d love to meet you.
Bring your confidence, your creativity, and your best “I’m waiting…” teacher stance.
