What skills and experience we're looking for
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, highly motivated and ambitious qualified Cover Teacher to join our existing team of experienced Cover Teachers to teach classes during the short-term absence of a class teacher. This post is suitable for qualified teachers from any subject specialism who already have experience of working in secondary schools. This is an excellent opportunity, offering the chance to work with students in a variety of subject areas, working in a supportive school with a proven record in training and developing teachers.

Testbourne is a high performing school, with students achieving our highest results on record in the summer 2022. 85% achieved a ‘standard’ pass of grade 4 and above in English and Maths combined. Almost a quarter of students achieved the top grades, 9-7, in both English and Maths. A staggering total of 135 grade 9s were achieved by our year 11s across their subjects.
The successful candidate will:
- have qualified teacher status (QTS);
- be an excellent or potentially excellent teacher;
- have a passion for learning and teaching, and be committed to continuous learning and professional development;
- be forward thinking and keen to develop as a practitioner;
- flexible and prepared to deliver cover lessons in any subject area;
- have fantastic subject knowledge in their specialist subject and be passionate about helping all students to progress and achieve excellent standards in their lessons.
