Creative Arts Teaching Assistant job summary

Are you passionate about inspiring young minds through creativity? A job with ‘light bulb’ moments that show you there and then just how much joy and benefit you are creating for children? Come and join our amazing team and see how much our school has to offer you.

We are looking for a Creative Arts Teaching Assistant to join our vibrant and inclusive primary school community. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a love for the arts and a desire to support children's learning and development through creative expression.

As our Creative Arts Teaching Assistant, you will support the delivery of creative arts lessons across the school, including art, music, drama and movement, encouraging creativity and imaginative thinking in a nurturing environment. You’ll assist the class teacher in preparing and setting up materials and activities. You’ll work with small groups and individual children to help develop their artistic skills and confidence. There will be the opportunity to contribute to school events such as performances, exhibitions and themed weeks. Please read the job profile attached which covers duties associated with this role.

Epsom Downs Community School is a diverse and vibrant Primary School set on the edge of the famous Epsom Downs racecourse. We are a large and well-resourced school with outside play areas equipped to the highest standard, a small farm, an off-site Nature World, a Music room, Library, dedicated Media Suite and even an outdoor beach! Further details about our unique site and our values can be obtained from our website.

The successful candidate will:

  • have a background or keen interest in the arts (e.g., visual art, drama, dance, or music)
  • enjoy working with children and helping them grow in confidence and creativity
  • be organised, flexible, and enthusiastic
  • be committed to inclusion, high expectations and raising standards
  • be able to work collaboratively as part of a team.

In return we can offer you:

  • the opportunity to work with an exceptional team of staff who are committed to the success and welfare of every child in our Trust;
  • opportunities for professional growth both within the school and the wider Greensand Multi Academy Trust, from further TA qualifications to Forest School Leadership (if you enjoy the Great Outdoors). This is on top of our bespoke TA training and the chance to learn from our dedicated, highly motivated staff.
  • an excellent staff assistance scheme with access to a range of wellbeing and health initiatives, including complimentary counselling, physiotherapy and a 24-hour online GP service
  • access to a Greensand My Staff Shop offering a range of hospitality, retail and leisure discounts, including a cycle to work scheme
  • membership of a generous Local Government Pension Scheme

Working pattern is Tuesday to Friday from 1:15pm to 3:15pm, 8 hours per week, term time only (38 weeks pa).

We encourage you to explore our website for further insight into our school, our facilities, and the supportive environment we foster. Our recent staff survey also highlights just how much our team members feel valued and supported— please take a look. Candidates are also warmly invited to contact the school to discuss the role in more depth or arrange a visit.

Applications will be considered upon receipt and we reserve the right to appoint someone sooner than this if we identify a suitable candidate. You are therefore encouraged to apply for the role as soon as possible.

We want to attract the broadest range of talented people to be part of our Trust. We strive to create a diverse and inclusive environment and welcome applicants from all backgrounds. If you need any specific support or require alternative formats, please contact us.
