The Kingston Academy is seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and highly skilled Curriculum Leader for Design and Technology. They will be committed to providing the best educational experience for students and will drive excellence in teaching, learning and leadership within the subject.

  • Passionate about their subject and skilled at teaching Design and Technology at Key Stage 3, 4 and 5. A keenness to shape and deliver a coherent, compelling and high quality Design and Technology curriculum;
  • Willingness to develop and improve teaching and learning resources and professional development to support the delivery of excellent Design and Technology;
  • Strong knowledge of current trends in Design and Technology Education, including new technologies and teaching methods;
  • A strong classroom practitioner, modelling excellent practice, and supporting others in refining their teaching;
  • A proven track record of achieving strong results in delivering both GCSE and A level Design and Technology;
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire staff and students;
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities;
  • Flexible and committed to engage in the wider curriculum through our Going Beyond and enrichment activities.

Interview Procedure

Our selection procedure will aim to identify with rigour whether the candidate fulfils the requirements of the post and will include the consideration of the candidate’s suitability to work with children and young people. The process will include:

  • Teaching an observed lesson with a selected class group;
  • Meeting with a panel of our pupils for informal question and answer session;
  • Presentation and Interview with Head Teacher, Associate Headteacher and Senior colleagues.
