Curriculum Lead of Science job summary

We are looking for an inspirational and dedicated teacher to lead our Senior School Science faculty from September 2020. The role is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about teaching science and wishes to play a key role in the academic leadership of a key area of the school.

The successful applicant will be:
• An outstanding classroom practitioner with a passion for teaching Science, who is able to lead by example in securing outstanding teaching and learning across the department.
• A leader with a clear vision for what a first-class Science curriculum should look like and with the attention to detail required to make that vision a reality.
• An effective communicator, who can establish, develop and sustain effective working relationships with a large faculty of staff.
• An advocate for pupils, who has a proven track record of securing outstanding outcomes at GCSE and a determination to ensure that all of our pupils are inspired and enriched by their experience of Science throughout their time at Warblington.

We are keen to develop the work on STEM, and as part of the role, you would oversee the STEM co-ordinator and continue to make good links with other organisations to promote science learning.

At Warblington School, we pride ourselves on our coaching ethos and our supportive team of professionals. As a middle leader new to the school you will receive a full and appropriate induction programme and have access to a tailored CPD programme and ongoing professional development.

The school has a strong ethos of student welfare. Therefore, any successful applicant will undergo a full enhanced criminal record check (DBS).

If you think you could contribute to the team, please see our website for an application form. Please note that we do not accept CV applications.

Commitment to safeguarding

Warblington School and Hampshire County Council are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment. All successful candidates will be subject to Disclosure and Barring Service checks along with other relevant employment checks.

Despite being in an extremely built up area of east Havant, Warblington benefits from a large playing field and is situated on the edge of rural West Sussex. It serves a mixed area comprising very high density social housing as well as areas of owner occupied housing. There are excellent amenities locally with Havant itself a small market town and the District Council located nearby. Transport is good with a small train station on our doorstep and access to the A27 also close by.
