About the role

Carleton High School is looking for an inspirational Curriculum Leader of P.E to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced or aspiring middle leader to provide strategic leadership across this vibrant curriculum area.   

In September 2025, we proudly opened our brand-new, multi-million-pound building with state-of-the-art teaching facilities. Staff and students now benefit from a brand-new multi-use games area (MUGA) along with extensive playing fields for use during PE lessons and extra-curricular sports including football, netball and rugby.   

You will be responsible for raising standards of teaching, learning, and student achievement, and for ensuring that all learners have access to a high‑quality, inclusive and engaging curriculum.

As Curriculum Leader you will:  

  • Provide strategic leadership to drive high‑quality curriculum planning, provision and improvement 
  • Be responsible for quality of education and outcomes for both BTEC PE and Health & Social Care courses 
  • Lead curriculum design, delivery and evaluation across P.E. and Health & Social Care. 
  • Monitor student progress and use performance data to raise achievement. 
  • Line manage, develop and support staff to ensure consistently strong teaching and learning within the department.
