What skills and experience we're looking for
Stambridge Primary School is looking to recruit a highly motivated, experienced and driven colleague to work as a Curriculum, Learning and Assessment Lead (CLAL) to support our school.
Our new colleague will be integral to the implementation and impact of our curriculum, with the task of supporting all children to reach their potential. Alongside this, they will be a confident classroom practitioner able to support new teachers to the profession. Our expectation is that our curriculum leads either hold a SENDCo qualification or match our school/trusts ambition to achieve this within 2 years of successful employment.
This is a unique role with the successful candidate having the opportunity to lead on all thing’s curriculum. A typical day would involve working with key groups of children, leading high quality, focused interventions as needed. Disadvantaged pupils (including those with SEND) would be prioritised. Supporting and mentoring new teachers, creating planning and monitoring the curriculum are key daily tasks. The successful candidate would work closely with subject leaders/Head of School and lead on curriculum staff meetings and trust twilights.
CLALs must be skilled and experienced in
- Planning and preparing lessons and courses for pupils
- Delivering lessons to pupils
- Assessing the development, progress and attainment of pupils
- Reporting on the development, progress and attainment of pupils.
- Identifying key gaps and ensuring teaching that closes these gaps
They are accountable for and must action
- Lead the planning teams and guiding all staff that they are responsible for in delivering effective lessons
- Have strong pedagogical knowledge across their phase/ key stage and develop knowledge of other staff
- Reporting on the development, progress and attainment of pupils across their school/phases/ key stage
- Be an effective teacher themselves
- Understand key teaching research and best practice in teaching and learning including effective strategies for ensuring good outcomes for pupils

You will be selected for an interview entirely on the contents of your application form, so please read the Job Description carefully before completing your form. In addition to candidate’s ability to perform the duties of the post, the interview will explore safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, including:
- Motivation to work with children and young people
- Ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with children and young people
- Emotional resilience in working with challenging behaviours
- Attitudes to the use of authority and maintaining discipline
Any offer will be conditional upon:
- Verification of right to work in the UK
- Receipt of at least two satisfactory references (if these have not already been received)
- Verification of identity checks and qualifications
- Prohibition from teaching check
- Satisfactory enhanced DBS
- Verification of professional status
- Satisfactory completion of a health assessment
- Satisfactory completion of the probationary period (where relevant)
- Where the successful candidate has worked or been resident overseas in the previous five years, such checks and confirmations as may be required in accordance with statutory guidance

Stambridge Primary School is a small, rural school with lovely children. The team are dedicated to the community they provide for and work hard to ensure the children get the best education possible, as well as varied experiences and opportunities. Stambridge has grown in size over the past few years but we still have smaller than average classes with approximately 22-27 children in each class. We have four split year group classes - Nursery & Reception, Year 1&2, Year 3&4 and Year 5&6.

Stambridge Primary School and the HEARTS Academy Trust are focused on reducing teacher workload and supporting wellbeing of adults is a big focus too. Things we have done to reduce workload over the past few years include:
Focused 'live feedback' policy that reduces the time it takes to 'mark' books as we focus on live feedback in the lessons. Shared resources across all six schools at HEARTS using MS Teams and MS One Drive to reduce planning time. An additional week off each academic year (currently in October) in return for regular twilight meetings focusing on CPD across the MAT from 3:30-6pm. A school-improvement team that works across all six schools, supporting the development of the curriculum and teacher development. A wide variety of middle leader and senior leader opportunities across the wider Trust.
