Curriculum Support Officer: Cover Supervisor and SEND Support

SCP C13, £30,023 per annum, pro rata to £26,054 for term time only working (39 weeks)

Contract Term: Full time, 37 hours. Permanent

At Berkeley Green UTC, we don’t just support learning, we foster ambition, build resilience, and ensure every young person has the confidence and skills to succeed beyond education.

We are seeking an exceptional Curriculum Support Officer who believes, deeply and passionately, that the right support, delivered at the right time, can transform a student’s experience and outcomes. This is a unique opportunity to work in a setting where students have chosen their pathway, where relationships matter, and where support is purposeful, structured, and impactful.

Why this role matters

Our students arrive with ambition, but some require additional support to overcome barriers to learning, particularly around social, emotional, and mental health needs. They need a Curriculum Support Officer who can provide consistency, structure, and encouragement, ensuring they remain engaged, independent, and successful.

You won’t simply supervise learning; you will:

  • Support students to overcome barriers and develop positive learning behaviours
  • Build confidence, resilience, and independence in both academic and personal development
  • Provide structured study supervision that enables students to remain focused and productive
  • Contribute to meaningful SEND processes, ensuring students receive the support they need to thrive

What makes Berkeley Green UTC different

Step into our UTC and you’ll feel it instantly - a culture built on professionalism, respect, and genuine human connection.

  • Students are polite, motivated, and purposeful
  • Staff know every learner, because relationships matter here
  • Learning is cutting-edge, employer-informed, and future-focused
  • Facilities are state-of-the-art, designed with industry partners
  • Education is both academic and technical, equally valued

This is a place where you can truly immerse yourself in your subject, supported by colleagues who are experts in their fields and a community that believes in what education can be.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Sets high expectations for behaviour, engagement, and achievement
  • Creates a calm, supportive, and structured learning environment
  • Can confidently supervise students and manage behaviour effectively
  • Builds strong, professional relationships with students, colleagues, and families
  • Communicates clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing
  • Works proactively with staff and external agencies to support student outcomes
  • Is flexible, resilient, and solution-focused when responding to challenges
  • Embraces continuous development and reflects on their practice

Above all, we are looking for someone who sees the individual behind the student, understands the importance of removing barriers to learning, and is committed to helping every young person succeed.

Beyond the classroom

At Berkeley Green UTC, support extends beyond lessons. You will:

  • Contribute to a curriculum shaped by industry and opportunity
  • Work alongside employers and partners who enrich learning
  • Support students as they progress to top universities, apprenticeships, and careers
  • Play a full role in a community where collaboration and shared purpose matter

A place where you can thrive

This is more than a job; it’s a place where your work has meaning.

You will join a community that:

  • Values integrity, respect, and professionalism
  • Invests in high-quality CPD and career development
  • Encourages innovation and celebrates excellence
  • Believes that great teaching changes lives

We offer:

  • A genuinely inclusive and specialist setting
  • Comprehensive induction and support
  • Opportunities for ongoing training and professional development
  • A warm and collaborative team culture
  • Meaningful work where you can see the impact you make every day
  • Our students are curious, resilient and full of potential. We are proud to create an environment where individuality is celebrated and every achievement matters.
  • Local Government Pension Scheme
  • Access to health and wellbeing support services

If you are ready to inspire, challenge, and make a lasting difference, we would be delighted to hear from you. Come and be part of something different. Come and be part of Berkeley Green UTC.
